Deadpool 2 star Domino has lots of backstory for a spinoff movie

The breakout star of Deadpool 2 is unquestionably Domino, a mercenary with a mutant power that ensures the odds always fall in her favor — especially when it means gliding through brutal fight scenes unconcerned and unscathed. Thanks to a charismatic performance from Zazie Beetz and fight choreography that demonstrates just how effortlessly cool this power can look, odds are pretty good that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Domino in the future. Fortunately for filmmakers, there’s plenty of source material to draw from in Marvel comic books.

Opinion: Google AMP is still confusing, and it's not getting any better

The mobile web can be frustrating. Smartphones and tablets are becoming faster every year, but modern sites usually outpace them by becoming more complicated. While there are efforts to improve site load times, smartphones have to deal with other obstacles as well. Cellular network connections can become congested, especially in densely-populated areas, and budget phones often aren't speedy enough for a good browsing experience.

Alternate title: Google needs to AMP it up to 11 — and right now, it's at 4

No one’s ready for GDPR

After four years of deliberation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was officially adopted by the European Union in 2016. The regulation gave companies a two-year runway to get compliant, which is theoretically plenty of time to get shipshape. The reality is messier. Like term papers and tax returns, there are people who get it done early, and then there’s the rest of us.

Best quote.

“ARE YOU KIDDING? IF WE TOLD THEM HOW WE WERE USING THEIR DATA, THEY’D NEVER GIVE IT TO US IN THE FIRST PLACE.”

PS Vita physical games are dead, but it doesn’t need them anyway

Six years after the PlayStation Vita’s launch, Sony is ending its production of physical games for most of the world. First reported by Kotaku, a Sony rep has since confirmed to The Verge that the company’s American and European branches — not its Japanese locations — will halt production by the end of 2018’s fiscal year. The good news? It won’t impact digital sales, meaning the Vita lives on.

Watch Ariana Grande, Jimmy Fallon, and The Roots play her new single with Nintendo Labo

https://youtu.be/m6lY1GXTu5M

In an entirely expected turn of events, Ariana Grande showed up on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform her new single “No Tears Left to Cry” this evening. What you might not have seen coming was her choice of instruments: Grande teamed up with Fallon and The Roots to play the song entirely using Nintendo’s Labo line of cardboard Switch accessories. It’s an impressive feat, and we should know, as attempting to program a song and build instruments using Labo proved to be a huge challenge during our testing. We’re not quite sure who handled the programming for tonight’s performance, though.

Windows 10 is getting a File Explorer dark mode and new cloud clipboard

Microsoft is testing a new build of Windows 10 today (17666) that includes some new features that will be available later this year. The biggest addition is a new cloud-powered clipboard that will let Windows 10 users roam their clipboard contents across devices, and presumably eventually to Android and iOS devices. The cloud clipboard includes a history of what has been copied, and it will sync in the same way Sets and Timeline do, so you can copy from one PC and paste on another.

Netflix’s Aggretsuko has a surprising lesson about love

Netflix’s Aggretsuko has already proved to be more than a cute animated show capitalizing on the popularity of Sanrio’s all-too-relatable red panda, Retsuko. Retsuko is the show’s heroine, finding herself and learning to fight back against sexist cultures, but another character appears as a tragic figure illustrating a powerful lesson about the pitfalls of romance.

Verizon's Oath, which includes Yahoo and AOL properties, has announced a deal with Samsung to integrate its content and "native ads" into Bixby Home and pre-load more bloatware apps. As if you didn't already have enough reason to disable Bixby.

Pocket Casts acquired by NPR, other public radio stations, and This American Life

The acquisition price isn’t being disclosed. But the people behind Pocket Casts are insistent they chose this path not because of what the buyers paid, but because of who they are. “We have had acquisition offers in the past,” Ivanovic told The Verge by email. “We turned them down because the unique thing about this opportunity is the mission driven nature of these organizations. They want what’s best for the podcasting space, they want to build open systems that everyone can use.”
